With this project I wanted to highlight my process of the behind the scenes before the final product.

I like to start concepts in illustrator with ideas in proportion so I can talk to the development staff as early in the process as I can.

As the shoe starts to take shape, I submit pullover specs to just get enough of my early ideas out. I like my pullovers to be open ended so I can design and sculpt an actual shoe rather than portraying my ideas on paper. The hands on element is the most important part of my process.

As the tooling turns from concept to prototype, the editing process becomes more about the function while figuring out how we are going to produce and assemble the piece.

Once all the components are in place the concept has become reality, an idea successfully communicated to a factory, realized as a finished sample.
